Hacked emails show Democratic party hostility to Sanders
This poll indicated that about 85% of those surveyed who voted for Sanders in various state primary elections would make the switch to Hillary Clinton in a general election; 9% indicated a desire to switch to Trump out of totally reasonable hatred for Clinton and her various scandals and lies; and 6% said they would vote for either a third party candidate or were unsure as to what their decision would be. Bernie Sanders, details of perks provided to party donors attending the convention; and email exchanges among party officials, journalists and others.
The emails were released Friday on Twitter by WikiLeaks, which linked readers to a Web page inviting them to search the DNC email database.
“Today, Friday 22 July 2016 at 10:30am EDT, WikiLeaks releases 19,252 emails and 8,034 attachments from the top of the US Democratic National Committee – part one of our new Hillary Leaks series”, the introduction says.
The leaks come from the accounts of seven key figures in the DNC: “Communications Director Luis Miranda (10770 emails), National Finance Director Jordon Kaplan (3797 emails), Finance Chief of Staff Scott Comer (3095 emails), Finanace [sic] Director of Data & Strategic Initiatives Daniel Parrish (1472 emails), Finance Director Allen Zachary (1611 emails), Senior Advisor Andrew Wright (938 emails) and Northern California Finance Director Robert (Erik) Stowe (751 emails)”, the site advertises. The emails are dated through the five months to May 25, 2016.
The massive collection of emails is full of correspondence between Democratic National Committee members, advisers, and PR members. Some of the emails could open some old wounds and impede that process. The email seems to indicate a clear preference among DNC officials for a Clinton primary win.
It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. “Does he believe in a God”, wrote Brad Marshall, the chief financial officer of the committee. “He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage” he said in the email, sent to other DNC officials. I think I read he is an atheist. If the DNC followed through on this plan – attempting to expose Sanders as an atheist in order to discredit him with Christian – especially Southern Baptist – voters it would represent a big departure from the DNC’s neutral role.
The DNC temporarily curtailed Sanders’ access to the list in December 2015 because the organization accused the insurgent campaign of illegally tapping into confidential voter information compiled by the Clinton campaign.
Marshall, meanwhile, told The Intercept that while he didn’t remember sending the email, he it wasn’t about Sanders, but instead was about a surrogate, which still doesn’t really make it okay, or even make much sense. Sanders’ campaign manager Jeff Weaver went on CNN and called on his supporters to “act in a civil way” but then criticized the Nevada state party.
City officials in Philadelphia are expecting anywhere from 35,000 to 50,000 demonstrators to be present throughout the week and for many of those to be Sanders supporters as nine of the 28 permits to hold official rallies during the convention were given to protesters inspired by the Vermont senator. Sanders is an independent but ran as a Democrat after years of caucusing with Democrats.
