‘Hairspray’ live musical in the works at NBC
NBC entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt spoke to reporters at 2016 Winter TCA Press Tour on Wednesday, denying reports that Fallon has been partying too hard.
After broadcasting live theatrical productions of “The Sound of Music”, “Peter Pan” and “The Wiz”, NBC has confirmed its next musical pick. “Since we changed the playing field for ourselves this year in the way we did everything – and the whole technique of doing the show is different – we set out on a path that has changed the way we do them”, Zadan explained. The statement was likely made to counter an article from back in November in the New York Post accusing the Tonight Show host of having a drinking problem that was causing his injuries. And lo and behold, he’s [now] the frontrunner.
“Lo-and-behold, he’s the front runner and the poll numbers are sort of astounding and he’s everywhere, every news show, morning show, night show, cable show”.
“We are always anxious about his safety and health”, he said.

No word yet on who NBC is eyeing for the cast.
