Halftime: Patriots lead Cowboys 13-3
“We never got the ball back”. Edelman had the most receiving yards with 120. Especially Brady, who has been the most scorned by this whole ordeal, who figures to have a monster game next weekend.
Dallas Cowboys’ Dez Bryant, right, who is recovering from an injury, watches from the sideline during the first quarter of an NFL football game against the New England Patriots, Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Arlington, Texas.
The main story of this game has nothing to do with the Ideal Gas Law, unfortunately it’s about a much more serious matter.
It’s time to put the whole idea of “Brandon Weeden can still play ball” to rest.
Outside of Dunbar’s 45-yard run, the Cowboys running game rushed 27 times for 70 yards (2.6 ypc).
“The Cowboys are a great team no matter what, and you’ve just got to be prepared for whoever is out there on the field”. Defensively, the Patriots yield 251.7 yards in passing and 117.0 yards in rushing. Linebacker Jamie Collins leads the team in tackles (22), sacks (3.5) and forced fumbles (2). They have made six sacks in their first four games. The Patriots are below average in the secondary except for strong safety Patrick Chung.
Recently-signed Matt Cassel, a 10-year veteran with 73 National Football League starts, is in reserve, and Dallas coach Jason Garrett said the quarterback position would be evaluated during the bye week, though he later said all positions are evaluated. When the New York Giants defeated Patriots in Super Bowl XLII to prevent their flawless season, they did so by applying pressure to Brady and controlling the clock. Greg Hardy had two of the Dallas sacks and Rolando McClain had another in their season debuts after four-game suspensions. The Cowboys had just been defeated by the Patriots. If Dallas can follow that recipe on Sunday afternoon, they can at least keep this game close to give them a chance for a last minute win. Brady has been almost flawless as he has nine touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Instead Hardy showed on Tuesday that he has learned nothing from being placed on the NFL’s commissioner exempt list for the 2014 season or from the short four-game suspension he served earlier this season to which he’ll return from on Sunday against the New England Patriots. Brady’s other touchdown toss went to running back Dion Lewis. The Patriots are coming off a bye week while the Cowboys are searching for an answer to their current injury problems.
“Brandon didn’t play well enough, but we didn’t play well enough”, Garrett said. Jones will have a hard task slowing down Gronkowski, but he is the best man for the job.
Sure, the Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons saw a few early scoring via a running game that was previously unseen, but there’s been little else since then. Look for Lucky Whitehead or even McFadden to take over duties. Washington’s Dustin Hopkins kicked a 52-yard field goal on the final play of regulation.
