Halo: Reach Teased for Backwards Compatibility
Microsoft and 343 Industries launched past year the special Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which included remastered versions of Halo 1, 2, 3, and 4.
“Halo: Reach” was the last effort by developer Bungie to release on a Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox branded console.
Microsoft’s Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox division, confirms that he’d like to see the old Halo Reach title arrive on the Xbox One via the upcoming backwards compatibility feature.
However, this isn’t the franchise’s first foray onto the Xbox One. Just making it Xbox One backwards compatible doesn’t mean it will have the bump in resolution and frame rate sadly.
Halo: Reach is interesting since it doesn’t have the series protagonist Master Chief. The Xbox One deserves the awesome back catalog of Xbox 360 and it will certainly be a blast to play our favorites.
This shows us that the game might be playable on the Xbox One very soon when the backwards compatibility update comes this November.
Spencer did not comment on the above points, but said it is more likely to come through backwards compatibility.
“I’ve seen the lineup of games coming to launch and in the months ahead; good list.”
However this isn’t all bad news as the game’s executive producer Dan Ayoub did state that this was something Microsoft was thinking about since many had been asking for it. Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature, however, is only available to active Preview Program members.
