Handicapping the Oscars: It’s ‘La La Land’ in a runaway

But removing her performance out of the context of the controversies, Isabelle Huppert is mind numbingly terrific as the corporate woman, whose life takes a hard turn after she was raped by a masked intruder.

The Academy Award for Best Screenplay went to Affleck’s director, Kenneth Lonergan, for Manchester by the Sea. When she did finally acknowledge him, her screw face (whether in jest or otherwise) said it all: Let this Oscar-nominated actress have their dang minute on camera!
