Hands-on with the Star Wars: Battlefront beta
We’ve had a sneak preview though and can assure you it’s definitely worth the download.
DICE has yet to formally confirm the targeted resolution for Star Wars Battlefront on console or say whether the resolutions will be improved for the final game.
I’ve never been fond of flight in Battlefield, purely because of the slightly steeper learning curve, but I got to pootle around in a TIE fighter, and the much mroe forgiving flight model is very entertaining, even with keyboard and mouse.
It’s easy to draw comparisons to EA’s Battlefield series after playing Star Wars: Battlefront.
The beta launches in a matter of hours for PS4, Xbox One and PC gamers and for those that love to hear about the technical aspects of a game – it may be seen as a negative, especially on Xbox One.
I’m loving Drop Zone, I’m dreading Walker Assault, and I’m bored with Survival. There’s also a chance for you to play the hero if you can locate the power-ups within the game.
The beta for EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront game has shown me that things are developing much better than I had expected. The latest news to go online revolves around new multiplayer modes.
The only major thing I found annoying while playing the beta was the spawn points during battles.
Kotaku also mention the fact that you don’t have to reload your gun for the whole duration, but you actually need to cool it off before setting ahead. While the spawn killing didn’t happen too frequently, it still happened enough times to become noticeably irritating during most matches. We’ll see how the game holds up come Thursday when it opens to everyone.
On PS4 and Xbox One, the file size will be around the 7GB mark, while on PC, it’ll be around 11GB.
There are two types of unlocks in the beta – Star Cards and Blasters. But that’s a better situation than in the case of the Xbox One which runs at 720p, resulting in blurry edges and unsatisfactory image quality. The obvious place to start is the survival mission, which is the only one in the beta that can be played alone. Even so, given what we do know about the full release, it also feels like there are a few lost opportunities, as well.
