Happy birthday Mario! Nintendo’s iconic game character turns 30
Go ahead and type “Super Mario Bros” into Google. Instead of socializing with people, you spent most of your time playing Super Mario Bro and stomping goombas. Wii U and 3DS based on the newly released level designer, Super Mario Maker.
There doesn’t seem to be a playable Super Mario Bros. variant anywhere, unfortunately, but I guess it’s nice to have such a key part of many of our childhoods referenced for all to see. The game is originally released in the Family Computer, and then released to the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The original Super Mario Bros. game has given birth to several other video games featuring the excitable plumber brothers, Princess Peach, and her kidnapper Bowser.
And with the recent birthday of the adventurous plumber we also saw that a Syrian artist, Samir al-Mufti, has recreated the perilous journey faced by Syrian refugees in Super Mario. It has sold over 40.2 million units, making it one of the best-selling games of all time. It was one of the first platform games to give players a world to explore – from the open air, to the underground, even underwater. They talk about the game’s creation – while they don’t exactly shed light on any unknown information, it’s certainly an interesting watch for those of us that haven’t memorised the history of Mario.
Unlike the computer games today, Super Mario was simple and the graphics were regular. And so that’s actually why we created this small Mario first.

Whether or not Nintendo and Google collaborate on more Super Mario Bros. inspired projects remains to be seen, but for this special day Google created yet another Mario themed memory for fans of the franchise young and old.
