‘Happy’ Costa to see out Chelsea contract, says Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admits Leicester City thoroughly deserved their 2-1 win on Monday night.
Leicester City will return to the summit of the Barclays Premier League table if they beat Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening and if they do, a certain statistic will continue to blow the minds of many football fans.
He added: “All last season, I did phenomenal work and brought them to a level that is not their level”. I wanted to show our best and we bought some good players.
“Our two [conceded]goals are very hard to accept and a big frustration to accept because I feel my work was betrayed”.
“My players got all that information, you can ask them, they are honest guys who will tell you it is true”.
It has been an absolutely incredible year for Leicester, who find themselves favourites in a game against the defending champions, something no one would have envisaged when they were struggling to stay up in a similar period last season. “I want to stay, I hope Mr Abramovich and the board want me to stay, because I want to stay”.
In contrast, Vardy’s incredible season continued as the England striker netted just one game after his record-breaking run of 11 successive league matches with a goal came to an end.
Chelsea will look to address their disappointing form when they take on Premier League leaders Leicester City at the King Power tonight.
“It must be a serious injury because he just left the pitch and just made the decision not to go in”. “When in front of the goal he is not scoring, he is not fresh minded and critical like he was all of last season, he’s leaving the areas”.
Last two games Chelsea was scoreless, mostly because of Mourinho’s quarrel with Diego Costa. I don’t know when we can achieve this. Obviously, we’ve been here before with Chelsea when managers change midway through the season.
“If I was a player, I’d be giving a lot more”, Mourinho said postgame. “Let’s be honest. I said a couple of weeks ago I don’t believe they can be champions”.
Ranieri often cites steering clear of relegation as Leicester’s primary objective, but Mourinho thinks a top-six finish is the worst-case scenario for them. One thing is to be top of the league in September after a handsome start; another thing is to be top of the league in December.
