Happy Hull City make it two wins in two at Swansea
Swansea host Hull at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday priced as bet365’s 8/11 favourites to back-up their positive start to the new Premier League campaign by keeping all three points in South Wales.
It keeps them flying high in the Premier League table despite a chaotic summer which has left them with no permanent manager and just 13 fit senior players.
However, a shock 2-1 home win over champions Leicester City on the opening day of the season provided a glimpse of optimism and Hull have gone on to make it two wins from two with victory over Swansea.
Phelan told Sky Sports News after the game: “This Premier League can be brutal but at the moment we are riding a bit of a wave”. “Credit to everybody working at this football club and credit to the players for the effort they’ve put in”.
The hosts came rocketing out of the blocks, Icelandic global Gylfi Sigurdsson unleashing a thunderbolt of an effort from the edge of the box only for Hull ‘keeper Eldin Jakupovic to somehow get his fingertips to it, enough to tip it against the crossbar and away to safety.
A successful USA takeover of the once fan-owned club, allied to the sales of club captain, Ashley Williams, and senior forward players such as Andre Ayew, Bafetimbi Gomis, Eder and Alberto Paloschi moved many commentators to speculate that the South Wales side might not be long for the top-flight.
“I am sure the people in charge will do the right thing”, Phelan said after Hull made it six points from six.
It comes after Swansea City FC’s American owners revealed they are in talks with the council over increasing capacity at the ground.
But after an encouraging opening half, in which they might have had two penalties, Swansea struggled to create after the break and Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic had little to do.
However, the visitors were not to be denied and another blissfully-delivered ball by Snodgrass was met by Davies’ head and substitute Maloney nipped in to score. Hopefully in the next 10 days or so we can bring some more talented players to this club.
“The difficulty to come here was to see if we could go after them or contain them”.
