The worldwide theatrical premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a paltry five days away, and many film studios have been vying for that coveted spot for their film’s trailers to air in front of Episode VII.
The precise locations of the premieres are being kept under wraps until the last minute, but they are expected to take place at LA’s TCL Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre and the El Capitan Theatre.
The film is directed by Star Trek director and long-term Star Wars fan, J. J. Abrams, and features Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). “When you go to see a movie in that format you know you are going to get something that is the best version of going out to the movies”. Abrams shot an entire sequence for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX, it’s not exactly easy to find a theater showing it in the format, which makes this new featurette pretty interesting. The city is already blocking off streets to set up the red carpet and logistics for what will be a massive, star-studded event that the trades are saying is even bigger than the Oscars.

They have also stocked up with 600,000 cartons of popcorn and 300,000 Star Wars souvenirs, including souvenir cups and keyrings to meet the expected demand. Their call has been seen as a satirical riposte to a controversial wave of mosque building on campuses across the country, but in a statement, the petition’s organizers insisted Turkish Jedi knights were in dire need of training.
