Harrison Ford Remembers ‘Brilliant, Original’ Friend Carrie Fisher
“For all her fans and friends, I thank you for your prayers and good wishes”, Reynolds said on Twitter.
Reynolds, who sang and danced her way into the hearts of moviegoers in Hollywood musicals such as Singin’ In The Rain (1952), suffered a stroke and died last Wednesday at the age of 84.
“She would take Gary everywhere with her – on the red carpet at premieres, live on stage when I’ve interviewed her”. She became a household face after the release of the original Star Wars film in 1977. “Condolences to her friends, family & fans around the world”, reported AFP. “She will be missed by all”.
This won’t be Fisher’s first time on the animated comedy series (which has done numerous Star Wars parodies). If Star Wars fans had a great difficulty accepting the death of Harrison Ford’s character, Han Solo, then they’d find it hard to accept the actual death of Leia’s actress as well, pouring in to see Star Wars: Episode VIII to honor the actress.
Lightsabers shined bright as people came dressed as Wookiees, Stormtroopers, Darth Vaders and, of course, Princess Leias to honor the late Carrie Fisher Friday night at the Alamo Drafthouse. I will miss her very much. “A wonderful talent & light has been extinguished”.
Apart from the members of the Star Wars cast, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger released a statement with regards Fisher’s passing.
British entertainer Stephen Fry called her death a “crushing blow”.
“She showed that it was okay to be a strong girl, and then a strong woman”, said Linda Taylor.
Director and producer Steven Spielberg has also paid tribute to Fisher.
His display picture on the social media site has been set to a snap of him and Carrie as young children.
Players used their characters to dance together, shoot fireworks and kneel before the Princess Leia avatar. But Carrie’s honest writing and her razor-sharp wit were an even greater gift.
C3-PO actor Anthony Daniels also wrote: “I thought I had got what I wanted under the tree”.
According to Ana Martinez, who oversees the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she’s never seen a nomination for Carrie Fisher, and that maybe the actress didn’t want one.
