Harrison Ford Surprises Fans at ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Preview Screening
The Force Awakens, the first Star Wars film in 10 years, also stars the saga’s old hands Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill as well as newcomers John Boyega and Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o.
Invitations sent to members of the press requested they refrain from revealing spoilers. “And then everyone else knew, and it was like “Okay, there’s a few more people to deal with now”.
At the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre where the first “Star Wars” premiered in 1977, fans are already camped out, eagerly awaiting their turn when the film opens for regular folks next Friday.
Fans are already camping outside to ensure they do not miss the hottest ticket in town. In fact, fans saw the exclusive footage at an IMAX theater where Ford slipped into the screening incognito, according to the Australian publication BMag.
“It’s a tradition and I would do it even if the movie was bad”.
Asked if he would provide any tips on how to be Han Solo in the spin-off, Ford, 73, said: “No, I’m not going to do that”.
He acknowledged that The Force Awakens debut is “triple the magnitude of a typical premiere”. Russia’s 3,800 screens won’t all be dedicated to The Force Awakens, of course, but the growing film market there will definitely help when the movie hits Russian theaters on December 17 – a day before the official release in the U.S.
