Harry Kane says he is ‘not demanding anything’ during new contract discussions
The 23-year-old’s current deal runs until 2020 and sees him earn nearly half as much as worldwide colleagues Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge – who both take home upwards of £100,000-per-week at Leicester and Liverpool respectively.
As well as scoring the equaliser in the North London derby, he also scored twice in the final two minutes to inspire Tottenham to a dramatic win over West Ham at the weekend.
Like Harry Kane, he is one of the senior players now in contract negotiations with the club over new deals and also like Kane, although no announcement in imminent, he is happy to commit his future to the club verbally at least. But I think we’d have been lying if we said on 88 minutes we were looking to win the game. I’m not panicking and I’m not demanding anything.
“I think it shows that I am doing well, for one thing”, added Kane.
Mauricio Pochettino admits Tottenham’s win over West Ham wasn’t the prettiest, but he commends his club’s fighting spirit.
England striker Harry Kane has brushed aside talk that he could quit Tottenham amid reports that talks over an improved contract have broken down.
“We’ve got a great young team, new training ground, new stadium being built, and great young manager”. But the 23-year-old allayed some of those fears by insisting he has no intention of leaving a club for which “the future is very bright”.
“I owe my team-mates, my manager, my chairman and everyone at this football club for how I am playing now”.
Lloris said: “At the moment we are in a bad situation in the group because of our home games”.
Despite the fact that Tottenham is the only Premier League team not injured a single defeat in rounds played, the problem of the “spurs” are, and they are mostly related to missing players for various reasons, the basic structure.
“If we’d held on, we’d have got a good win, moved up the table and moved on, but instead we made mistakes”. Les Rouges et Blancs beat Tottenham in the reverse fixture in September, with goals from Bernardo Silva and Thomas Lemar sealing a 2-1 win, and they top Group E with eight points – two more than Bayer 04 Leverkusen and four more than Tuesday’s visitors.
This time Monaco are coming into the match with home-field advantage on their side, and the Stade Louis will be loud and rocking as they try to push their team to victory.
