Harry Potter author takes to Twitter to talk about Snape
Meanwhile, the cinematic adaptation of Rowling’s “Harry Potter” prequel novel entitled “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is set to appear in theaters soon. “I’m genuinely curious as he was nothing but abusive towards everyone”, queried @FrazzyJazzy7, a self-described Slytherin who says “Snape is my spirit animal”.
Then she took a deep dive into Snape’s character, discussing how he has shades of gray; revealing how Harry hoped to honor him and the other deaths from the Battle of Hogwarts; and explaining Snape’s one true tragedy.
In response, the author said “Snape died for Harry out of love for Lily”.
Rowling’s answer caused quite the divide among of “Harry Potter” fans, who all had their thoughts regarding the matter. “I said, ‘Morrissey touched me!’ She said, ‘I know, you look stupid'”.
Fans still weren’t contented with Rowling’s explanation, and kept bugging her for more details. My timeline just exploded with love & fury yet again. There’s enough rage on Twitter without Snape-related hate.
It all started on Friday when a fan tweeted Rowling asking why Harry chose to name his second son Albus Severus Potter, after Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore and potions teacher Severus Snape. Snape projected his hatred and jealousy of James (Harry’s father) onto Harry.
Still, she couldn’t help but be amused at the emotion the discussion brought out in Potter fans. As Rowling wrote about Professor Severus Snape, “Snape is all grey”. “You can’t make him a saint: he was vindictive & bullying. You can’t make him a devil: he died to save the wizarding world”, Rowling tweeted.
But Rowling has now taken to Twitter to reveal that despite Snape making Harry’s time at the school hard, and even killing Professor Dumbledore, he wanted to honour his love for his late mother Lily Potter.
