Harry Potter Fans Honour Alan Rickman At London Station
He is perhaps most cherished among younger fans for playing deceptive hero Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films; a malicious, slithering and petty professor on the surface, who is deep down driven by good. Emma acted alongside Alan in a number of films – including Harry Potter, Love Actually and Sense and Sensibility – and the pair became great friends over the course of their careers.
However, as a certain Twitter user pointed out, Indian publication The Times of India seem to be unaware of this development. According to Metro, the well-shared quote originated from a fan’s Tumblr account in 2010.
Alan Rickman was suffering from pancreatic cancer, it has been reported.
But the internet’s trolls – probably with minds blown following decades of modelling their own slimy personalities on Rickman’s diabolical Die Hard villain Hans Gruber – didn’t want to hear it. The spell reveals Severus has always cared for Lily Potter and her son.
Emma Watson aka Hermione Granger also shared kind words on her Facebook page.
Radcliffe continued with his memories of Rickman, reflecting on the rare close-up glimpse he got of the iconic actor and his true nature while he played the newbie wizard and Alan transformed himself into the dark and beloved Potions Master.
Biggerstaff added that the last time he saw Rickman was after the actor, unbeknownst to him, had been in the hospital for an extended period. When he finally did arrive he greeted them as graciously as he greeted everyone and then bent slightly at the waist so that he was just on the cusp of looming over them, lowered his eyelids slightly and asked them in that distinctive and profoundly sonorous voice: “‘Are you Harry Potter fans?’ Needless to say we nearly had to take the poor things to the hospital”.
“I am devastated to hear about the passing of Alan Rickman”, he wrote in a statement. She remembered “the special man and actor” affectionately, writing: “I’ll really miss our conversations. He was a magnificent actor and a wonderful man”.
