Harry Shearer back at ‘The Simpsons’ after contract dispute
Now everybody do their best Mr. Burns impression with us and say “excellent”!
Shearer has signed the same contract as did the other five primary voice actors – Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria and Yeardley Smith – keeping the show’s original cast fully intact..
According to The Hollywood Reporter, each of the stars will earn an estimated $300,000 per episode.
The show has recently been renewed by Fox for a 27th and 28th season, which would take its tally of episodes well above 600.
Harry Shearer is back in the Simpsons family.
As we reported back in May, Shearer announced that he would not be returning to “The Simpsons” on Twitter. He actually gets to record on the phone and do the [table] reads on the phone.
Jean told Entertainment Weekly in a subsequent interview he was confused by Shearer’s tweet. “Nothing’s done ’til it’s done”. However, in early June executive producers Al Jean and James L. Brooks revealed to ATX Television Festival goers that there was no change in negotiations.

The issue seems to have come from an instance of miscommunication between Shearer and Jean.
This is a classic good news/bad news situation for fans of The Simpsons. FOX then started production the Simpsons’ upcoming 27th season without Shearer, saying that they would find replacements for Shearer’s numerous characters.
Harry Shearer, who provides voices to the characters of Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders and Principal Skinner, left the show on May 13 amid a contract dispute. Shearer and the other primary members of The Simpsons cast have been with the show since its debut in 1989.
