Harry Shearer Returns to The Simpsons!
It appears that “The Simpsons” is no longer going to be forced to find themselves a new Mr. Burns, after all.
At the time, executive producer Al Jean said Shearer’s characters, including Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders and Principal Skinner, would be recast.
Harry Shearer, who said in May that he wouldn’t return for the show’s 27th season, is now back on board. These deals, which run for four seasons (including a network option for seasons 29 and 30), are estimated at more than $300,000 per episode.
Having recently concluded its 26th season, “The Simpsons” has won 31 Emmy Awards, 31 Annie Awards, a 2015 People’s Choice Award, was the first animated series to win a Peabody Award and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for the theatrical short “The Longest Daycare”. He tweeted in May that he and the show had parted ways over a contract dispute. “So we’ve never kept him from doing that stuff”.
” “Shearer, who has been with the show since it started in 1989, wrote that producer James L. Brooks’ lawyer delivered the news: “‘Harry will not be part of it, wish him the best.'”.
Shearer’s return marks a full six-lead confirmation for Seasons 27 and 28, as all principal voice performers are now confirmed, including Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria. “We’re still trying. Harry, let’s talk”.
This past season, “The Simpsons” was averaging a 2.7/8 among Adults 18-49 – steady year-over-year in the core demo and Total Viewers (6.0 Mil).
