Harvey Weinstein to Surrender in New York Sex-Crimes Case

Weinstein hired Ben Brafman, one of America’s most celebrated criminal defence lawyers, last November, just days after NY police confirmed they were gathering evidence for a possible arrest warrant.
In February, Scotland Yard received an allegation that Weinstein sexually assaulted a woman in Westminster in the mid-1990s, bringing the total number of women who have reported Weinstein to British police to 10. The police Department of NY also thanked all those who spoke about the harassment Weinstein, courage and the desire to achieve justice. Weinstein’s attorney Benjamin Brafman stated in a news conference that they, “intend to move very quickly to dismiss these charges”.
“The charges will not be believed by 12 people, assuming we get 12 fair people who are not consumed by the movement that seems to have overtaken this case”, he said.
Scotland Yard have not named Weinstein, but confirmed officers from Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating allegations of sexual assault under Operation Kaguyak. He was later released on a $1 million cash bond. He will have to wear an ankle monitor and stay away from his accusers.

The producer, who had disappeared from circulation since the first accusations against him, made no statement during this new stage in her decay.
Weinstein has consistently denied any allegations of nonconsensual sex.
This comes almost eight months after more than a dozen women came forward claiming Weinstein harassed, assaulted or raped them.

Weinstein turned himself in Friday morning. He left with a strained smile on his face to be driven to court.
Harvey has two children with his ex-wife Georgina Chapman and three children from his first wife Eve Chilton Weinstein.
The triple Oscar victor has since said she was “appalled” and had no idea about the “disgraceful” allegations.

Our sources say prosecutors are looking at at least one actress whom Weinstein flew from one state to another. She was pregnant at the time, and the actor repeatedly said that he “wished he was there” when it had happened, she said.
Cosby’s conviction followed a mistrial previous year on the same charges.
