It’s been a while since fans have last heard new music from Katy Perry.

When presenter Ryan Seacrest asked her how her time off had gone, she replied: “Fantastic”. Introduced by her mother, she took the stage in a glittered gown and headdress for a performance that began with a long, spoken video-enhanced presentation about mothers and children. But the real talker was when Busta Rhymes joined the party, making a reference to Donald Trump as “President Agent Orange”. Perry was a known supporter of Hilary Clinton during the last USA presidential elections.

“The Color Purple” won best musical theater album, giving Jennifer Hudson her second Grammy and earning Tony victor Cynthia Erivo and “Orange Is the New Black” actress Danielle Brooks their first Grammys.

KATY Perry has been slammed after taking a swipe at Britney Spears’ public breakdown in 2007. That further challenges record labels, which are wrestling with their place in a world where many top artists can produce their work on their own, promote it with social media and distribute their music via streaming services.

Katy took a swipe at the Pop Princess in a major way while she walked the 59th Annual Grammy Awards red carpet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Host James Corden did little to distinguish himself.
