Have You Seen The Shroud of Tom Cruise?
The Cory Allen Contemporary Art Gallery in St. Petersburg, Florida have commissioned an art installation that depicts the Mission: Impossible actor nude, with unnaturally engorged testicles.
Curator and artist Daniel Edwards assisted with the exhibition arrangements and created the oversized cloth image of a Cruise au natural, with his hands over the Scientology cross placed on his chest.
Recently, Sophie Gilbert over at The Atlantic wondered why interviewers were neglecting to press Tom Cruise on Scientology during the “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” press tour, with even Jon Stewart sticking to milquetoast territory like Cruise’s exercise regimen and his lush mane.
The shroud features Cruise with enormous testicles and an equally impressive penis with very intricate pubic hair detailing. In fact, the controversial church, headquartered in Clearwater, has disavowed any connection to the exhibit, calling it a publicity stunt.
We’re not sure what he’s trying to say with this statue of Cruise, but if it’s built to scale, it could be a nice gift for any toddler looking for a same-size companion.
Edwards responded by stating that the shroud is an acknowledgement of Cruise’s quarter-century commitment to the Church of Scientology, and that he was requested to make the piece by a group he just assumed were connected to the Church.
The ban included any mention of HBO’s explosive Scientology documentary “Going Clear“, as well as tabloid reports Cruise was dating his assistant.
