Earlier this week, it seemed as if Chris Brown‘s name was all but omitted from Australia and New Zealand’s invite lists, but his camp is bucking back against such claims.
The Australian government did not take lightly to Chris Breezy’s assault on pop queen, Rihanna.
And the Loyal singer has been pleading his case – on Twitter.
“I would be more than grateful to come to Australia to raise awareness about domestic violence, ‘ he tweeted. Im not the pink elephant in the room anymore”, Brown wrote. Showing the world that mistakes don’t define you.
Brown said he could use his status to help “prevent spousal abuse”.
World boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather had not also been granted a visa that would allow him to do social functions such as having dinner and nightclub appearances in Sydney and Melbourne in January due to similar grounds, according to BBC.
Williams said that she did not support Brown being banned and gave a few recommedations, including donating a portion of his performance proceeds to domestic violence in Australia and delivering a public service announcement on the issue.
Australia’s Minister for Women, Michaelia Cash, has urged that he be refused entry and an online petition has been set up by advocacy group GetUp! which calls for him to be banned.
His upcoming album is to be named after his daughter.
