Hawks’ Uthoff is a preseason All-Big Ten Choice
Indiana’s James Blackmon Jr., and Yogi Ferrell, Iowa’s Jarrod Uthoff, Maryland’s Jake Layman, Michigan’s Caris LeVert and Wisconsin’s Bronson Koenig rounded out the team.
Jankoska ranked fifth in the Big Ten by averaging 17.5 points last season while earning second team all-league honors. Michigan State women’s basketball was selected third in the coaches polls.
The media also selected a 10-member preseason All-Big Ten team.
The senior center was one of 10 players voted onto the team by the Big Ten media panel. She was a second-team All-Big Ten choice a year ago despite missing the second half of the conference season.
Maryland’s Melo Trimble was voted preseason Player of the Year.
Last season, Michigan State was 16-15 overall and 7-11 in Big Ten action after an injury-plagued 2014-15 season. Other Boilermakers mentioned in the voting included Hammons (received votes for All-Big Ten), Rapheal Davis (received vote for Most Underrated Player) and Swanigan (received vote for Big Ten’s top 2016 National Basketball Association draft pick). The Terrapins advanced to the Spokane Regional, where they beat Duke in the Sweet Sixteen, then second-seeded Tennessee in the Elite Eight to head to the Final Four in Tampa, Fla.
