HBO confirms Deadwood may live again
According to TVLine, there are some potential talks starting to surface now about giving the beloved series, canceled back in 2006, the ending that it really deserves. That said, no word if the network would take aim at a theatrical venture, or what became of Milch’s original two-movie plan to follow the series.
HBO has confirmed that “very preliminary discussions” are going on to restore the “Deadwood” series and turn it into a film. This came about when actor Garret Dillahunt, Francis Wilcott on the show, Tweeted that “I’m hearing credible rumors about a #Deadwood movie”.
The campaign to bring back the cult show that starred Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant plus an ensemble cast playing historical figures such as Seth Bullock, Al Swearengen, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane and Wyatt Earp, was sparked by Dillahunt, who tweeted the idea. “#Everybodypray”, wrote the actor who played Jack McCall.
Here is a report that we certainly did not envision happening for you tonight: It is starting to look as though HBO may be able to wrap up “Deadwood” in a way that it was always intended.
The “cancelled far too soon” HBO Western “Deadwood” might finally get a finish to the story if current reports are true…
