HBO confirms Game of Thrones’ final season, talks potential spinoff

Bloys, who also gave an update about Jon Stewart’s new show on Saturday, did offer some good news for the Game of Thrones fans who are probably rolled in a ball crying right now.

The most watched HBO series ever, “Game of Thrones”, has been going strong for five years now, having recently concluded its sixth season. But while the news may sound bad for fans of the show, there’s still hope for a potential spin off. For “Game of Thrones” Season 8, the number of episodes is yet definite, but according to rumors, there will only be six.

The announcement was made this morning at HBO’s presentation during the TV Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles as HBO programming president Casey Bloys spoke to the assembled press.

“Believe me, as the new guy, if I could get them do to more, I would take 10 more seasons”, Bloys said.

The number of episodes for season eight, has not yet been decided, however producers plan a total of 75 episodes for the entire series.

HBO officially announced when “Game of Thrones” is ending. After leaving the show last summer and signing a four-year deal with HBO, Variety reports Stewart could be back as early as September in what HBO president Casey Bloys describes as, “an animated parody of a cable news network”, taking on USA politics and media. George R.R. Martin told Benioff and Weiss how the saga would end, and they’ve been building to it pretty steadily, particularly this past season, with reveals book readers have been speculating over for decades.

“We’ve talked about it”. I’m open to it. “The guys weren’t opposed to it, but there’s no concrete plans or anything like that at this point”.

Last year, it raked in a record-breaking 12 Emmy awards and is leading the field again for this year’s awards in September with nominations in 23 categories. “I would take 10 more seasons”, he added, raging against harsh reality like a true, god-forsaken citizen of Westeros. The series usually starts airing around March or April, but the eighth season is expected to return next summer.
