HBO has chosen not to renew Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s filmmaking competition series for Season 5, our sister site Variety reports. “We are proud of the show and were pleased with its run throughout the years”.
Adaptive Studios, the production company behind the series, was waiting until August to hear from HBO, a source close to production, told Mashable.
Its first three seasons aired between 2001 and 2005, and the show laid dormant for a decade before being revived by HBO for a single season previous year.
After four seasons over the course of 15 years, the movie business reality series has been canceled, HBO announced Tuesday.
“I’m not one to question (their programming)”, he told AP.
“Project Greenlight” won’t be getting a fifth season on HBO. Damon is reportedly keen to continue the show on another network, or streaming service.
The actor, who is now promoting Jason Bourne, the fifth film in the Bourne franchise, said they are planning on shopping the series around, noting that he thinks the show will do well on streaming services like Netflix or Amazon. It also ran for one season on Bravo in 2005.
“After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of Vinyl, ” HBO said in a statement.
Damon is now making the press rounds for “Jason Bourne”, the fifth installment of the “Bourne” franchise which opens in theaters this weekend.
