HBO Reschedules U2 Paris Concert for December 7
In a heartfelt statement on their website, U2 have promised to “put on [their] best” during two rescheduled Paris shows: Sunday, December 6th and Monday, December 7th at Bercy’s Accorhotels Arena. The special was originally scheduled for November 14, but after the attacks in Paris, the band postponed the show.
“It’s a spirit our band knows well and will try to serve when we return for the postponed shows on December 6th and 7th. We hope and pray that all of our fans in Paris are safe”. Promoter and producer Arthur Fogel told The Irish Examiner, “The band wanted us to reschedule as soon as possible so that they could honour the commitment to their audience”.
Meanwhile, the canceled television broadcast of U2’s Paris concert that was to have taken place November 14 on HBO now is scheduled for December 7.
Nearly 90 music fans were slaughtered by armed terrorists who stormed the Bataclan theatre during an Eagles of Death Metal concert on 13 November (15). Still, rescheduling a huge public event such as a sold-out concert from a band such as U2, and then coordinating it to air as planned on HBO, is a feat of scheduling that could not have been easy to accomplish.
Veteran Northern Ireland punk band Stiff Little Fingers was one of few acts to defy safety concerns to play in Paris in the wake of the attacks.
