HBO’s ‘Vinyl,’ about ’70s rock ‘n roll
The latest trailer for Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger’s joint project, a new HBO series about the 1970s rock “n” roll scene, has been released.
‘Vinyl’ explores the music revolution of the 1970’s in New York that gave rise to punk, disco, and hip-hop… the genres that challenged the ideas of what rock and roll was. “Made you want to dance or go out and kick somebody’s ass”. Alongside Cannavale, Vinyl’s cast includes Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, P.J. Byrne, Ato Essandoh, Juno Temple, Jack Quaid and James Jagger. Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street) is the series’ showrunner. The executive producers are Scorsese, Jagger, Winter, Rick Yorn, Victoria Pearman, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, John Melfi and Allen Coulter.
The pilot will premiere on HBO in January. “It’s fast, it’s dirty, it smashes you over the head!” shouts Bobby Cannavale (Richie Finestra), a music executive trying to resurrect his record label.
