‘He’s making mincemeat of Obama’ Donald Trump hails ‘strong’ Vladimir Putin
Days after pushing back on allegations in that Russian President Vladmir Putin has killed journalists, Donald Trump assured a rally right here in that despite his hatred of the press, he would “never kill them”. “So, Putin said some very nice things about me, he does not know me, but he certainly gave me great compliments the other day, and all I did was respond with a thank you, that’s very nice”. “As far as I know, the Turkish side has not yet issued a permit required to launch this project and make it a priority project”.
Trump then challenged reporters to come up with hard evidence that the Kremlin, under Putin’s rule, has ever been involved with an assassination attempt on a journalist.
He also dismissed claims the Russian leader has had opposition journalists killed.
Trump conceded that if the allegations were true, he would “think that that’s bad”, but added, “this isn’t like somebody that stood with the gun and taken the blame or admitted that he’s killed”.
During a news conference last week, Putin praised Trump – who carries a commanding lead over his 13 GOP opponents in the national polls – as “a very bright and talented man” and “the absolute leader of the presidential race”.
“What am I gonna say, he’s a weak leader?” asked Trump.
But Trump, whose lead in the polls has grown after a series of inflammatory Islamophobic slurs, called the Russian president’s remarks a “great honour” and described Putin as “a man highly respected within his own country and beyond”.
“I don’t like that, I’m totally against that”, said Trump. There are three areas of interest that deserve inquiry-the question of US relations with Russian Federation; the matter of Putin’s approach to ruling Russian Federation; and the lessons in political discourse posed by the exchange.
Trump was clearly gratified by Putin’s comments, saying in a Friday interview on NBC, “When people call you “brilliant” it’s always good, especially when the person heads up Russian Federation”.
“They said he’s killed reporters”.
“What somebody like a Donald Trump is doing is playing on the fears and anxieties of the American people, ” Sanders said.
Pressed for specifics, Trump added: “Take a look at what we’re doing in the Middle East. We went into Iraq, we shouldn’t have”. “So you’re supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, at least in our country”. “He’s not. He kills journalists”.
“But no, I would never kill them”, he said. “I think it’s terrible-horrible”. “By the way, I hate some of these people but I’d never kill them”. “He’s a strong leader, he’s a powerful leader….”
“If Russia wants to bomb the hell out of ISIS and join us in that effort, I am absolutely fine with it”, he said.
