‘He stole it’: Trump blasts Cruz for ‘fraud’ in Iowa
Donald Trump has accused Ted Cruz of fraud in the Iowa caucuses and Rand Paul has dropped out of the crowded Republican race to become the party’s United States presidential candidate.
A previous Trump tweet accused the Cruz campaign of telling Iowa voters that Ben Carson was quitting the race so he could steal Carson votes.
Trump also made mention of a deceptive mailer distributed by the Cruz campaign created to shame Iowa voters into caucusing.
In another tweet, Trump said Cruz had lied about his opinion of President Barack Obama’s healthcare program, Reuters reported.
“Some people thought the debate, you know, not doing the debate might have been a positive for perhaps my opponents”, Trump said.
Monday night’s Iowa caucus is behind us, and the focus turns to January 9’s New Hampshire primary.
Mr Cruz bested Mr Trump with 28 per cent of caucusgoers’ pledges on Monday compared with the latter’s 24 per cent. Florida Senator Marco Rubio came in a close third with 23 per cent.
Donald Trump tried turning over a new leaf Wednesday – and it lasted for all of five minutes.
“Based on the fraud committed by Senator Ted Cruz during the Iowa Caucus, either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified”, the former “Apprentice” star continued.
“What kind of people do we have running for office?” the billionaire businessman said at a campaign event in Milford, New Hampshire.
Since this was brought to light, some big name Republicans have piled on Cruz suggesting that Trump would have actually won. “His reaction was to get very angry”, the presidential contender said during a town hall in New Hampshire on Thursday”.
On NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday, Trump said he was “semi-satisfied” with his second-place finish.
“I think whoever is responsible for blatant lying should be dismissed, absolutely”.
Later Tuesday, Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that his campaign “didn’t have much of a ground game because I didn’t think I was going to be winning”.
Less than 48 hours after an Iowa caucus defeat, Donald Trump is calling for a do-over. In fact, Marco Rubio, came in third, exactly where we predicted he would. “I said, listen, it was a mistake for our team”.
