Health of Americans more important than politics
Many years ago, as a successful businessman, Trump had expressed the opinion that the best business solution to our dysfunctional health-care system would be a national health care system with universal coverage for everyone paid through taxes. Ideally, it would be nice to have single-payer insurance. wherein everyone would have free health care, as exists in every other developed country.
At stake for California is $23.4 billion in federal funding.
“Lose the health care provided by the ACA – and die earlier”. First, the Affordable Care Act requires people to have insurance (the individual mandate), or else pay a hefty fine.
It has also started to draw in more and better qualified medical and paramedical professionals, commenced a more efficient and effective delivery system by including mental health and substance abuse care in primary care settings rather than in remote, stand-alone locations, and created new synergistic opportunities.
If the goal is to keep people from being in danger of bankruptcy because of health bills, it’s not necessary to make sure they have comprehensive health insurance.
Some Republican voters object to the ACA because it’s just so complex.
During his speech to Congress Tuesday night, President Donald Trump reiterated his criticism of the Affordable Care Act, calling the health care law a “disaster”. A recent article in Forbes magazine estimates that employee workplace absences due to illness cost the USA economy about $576 billion annually in gross domestic product, or about $1.5 billion per day.

Any changes in Obamacare will have significant economic consequences for Florida – the largest state for sign-ups – and especially for South Florida, the region with the most participants in the state.

The federal law that requires nearly all Americans to have health insurance or face a fine has faced uncertainty before – through Supreme Court challenges and congressional funding fights. For the past six years we have heard a lot about repealing Obamacare, but few details about the replacement. What it should not, and need not do, is pay for “maintenance” expenses. “That’s not a one-time figure, that would be an ongoing challenge for us”.
Perez was focused on the GOP’s political motives, but our focus is on his assertion that taxing the wealthy is the primary means of paying for the Affordable Care Act. Support for this provision flips from 77%-20% support, to 75%-20% opposed if it caused the quality of health care to get worse.
Asked if the the prospect of fewer federal health care dollars would hurt Iowa, Gov. Terry Brandstad replied as he worked his way through a crowd of reporters Saturday, “that’s what Obamacare has done”. “Maybe California becomes a leader on this issue”.

Its advocates note that millions of people gained insurance under the ACA who otherwise would not have been able to afford it. The Affordable Care Act did not just provide health insurance for millions of Americans, it reformed payment systems, introduced innovative care delivery reforms, and much more. Following Trump’s comments on the ACA, in which he cited six key principles, it’ll be interesting to see what congressional Republicans take to heart, if it helps mend the division at all and how these principles could impact employers and employer-based health care plans.
