Hear Sam Smith’s Spectre theme song, ‘Writing’s On The Wall’
Weeks after Sam Smith proudly announced that he would be singing the theme song of the newest James Bond flick, Spectre, it has finally been released. Fans can now weigh in.
Didn’t Smith like the word “Spectre“?
Sam Smith’s famous voice will grace the opening titles of Spectre, the latest film in the James Bond series.
Meanwhile, Stephen Jones, a music commentator, tweeted: “Am I alone in thinking the new Sam Smith Bond theme is reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s Earth Song?”
Sounds like mission accomplished to us. Listen to it below.
While he wanted the Bond theme to sound “strong” he and the film’s director Sam Mendes ensured his personality also shone through in the melancholic tune.
On the SPECTRE theme song Smith comments: “This is one of the highlights of my career”. The song, “Writings on the Wall“, premiered this morning on UK’s Radio 1, and the reaction has been quite mixed from fans and reviewers alike.
The “Lay Me Down” hitmaker has dubbed the track a “classic Bond song” but isn’t anxious about it hitting number one in the charts. “But with you I’m feeling something, that makes we want to stay”, it continues. As for the lyric, “how do I live, how do I breathe? Because the writing’s on the wall”. With this song I don’t care about it charting and things like that.
“Writing’s On The Wall” was co-written by Sam Smith and fellow GRAMMY Award victor Jimmy Napes. Smith, earlier this week publicized a part of the track to tantalize the listeners. As per the rumors, the singer only took 20 minutes to deliver the track and is now keeping his fingers crossed for optimistic response.
