Hearthstone Grand Tournament expansion now available on Android and iOS
Highlight of the expansion is, of course, the 136 new cards, some of which you can peruse over at Hearthstone‘s Facebook page. As of 11 a.m., the game is already suffering from some connectivity issues. “We can’t wait to see what players come up with now that they have hands full with tons of new deck and strategy options”.
A little bit of a hiccup isn’t completely unexpected.
“The Grand Tournament” card packs will be available to purchase via the in-game shop for Windows and Mac PCs, iOS and Android tablets, and mobile phones. Blizzard has been building anticipation of the expansion through steady trickles of information over the last month. With that amount of stress on the game, it’s understandable that there might be some problems.
“With the new Inspire and Joust mechanics, and over 130 new cards to play with, The Grand Tournament brings a fun medieval-tournament vibe to Hearthstone“, said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. In addition to the new cards, The Grand Tournament expansion adds in some new game mechanics like the new “Inspire” keyword that players can use to give themselves a boost, as well as the new Joust mechanic. The other premium content is purely ornamental.
Pre-purchased card bundles can also be opened upon the official release of the upcoming expansion.
Hearthstone can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store.
This might be considered the biggest expansion launched yet for Hearthstone. Other expansions added new cards and playing fields, while others were single-player adventures that resulted in some rare and legendary cards.
The Grand Tournament takes after the Argent Crusade, an event in the World of Warcraft MMORPG universe were players have vied for the honor of being chosen to fight the Lich King.
