Heat and storms over the weekend — FIRST ALERT WEATHER
The bulk of the rain should begin to wind down shortly after sunset and all should be gone by 10 p.m. Chances for rain return Friday night and continue through the weekend, forecasters say.
It is expected to be mostly sunny in the middle of next with with highs of 91 on Wednesday and 89 on Thursday, according to the NWS.
Temperatures will climb to about 80 on Saturday, with a 40 percent chance of precipitation, mainly after noon.
Rain is expected across the Front Range throughout the day Friday as temperatures drop to the low 70s.
Highs will reach the lower 90s during the afternoon. Shoppers will have to pay close attention to the radar on the First Alert Weather app so you are not caught in the rain when going back to your vehicle.
Sunday will be similar, but we’ll see the afternoon storm chances increase. It would be best to have an indoor alternative plan in case rain develops over your area. Go indoors immediately if you hear thunder or see lightning! We’ll see these gradually die out through the evening. This means a good scattering of showers and storms during the afternoon hours. Highs will be in the low to mid-90s. If this occurs it could certainly impact our forecast next week. This is why we must watch it for possible development; the National Hurricane Center gives it a low chance of developing into a tropical system.
POTENTIAL CHANGES NEXT WEEK: Global models are in decent agreement; the GFS and the ECMWF (Euro) suggest a broad surface low will form across Alabama and Georgia, drifting southward down toward the northeast Gulf of Mexico.
AT THE BEACH: About 6 to 8 hours of sunshine through the weekend from Gulf Shores over to Panama City Beach, with a passing thunderstorm from time to time.
The local area will be under a heat advisory again today.
Speaking of our app, do not forget to use it to keep an eye on the radar here in Southwest Louisiana through the weekend.
