Heat, Rockets Discussing Dwight Howard-Hassan Whiteside Trade
About two months ago, reports had said that the New York Knicks could get involved with the Houston Rockets in regards to trading for the unhappy Dwight Howard and cited his unhappiness in playing alongside James Harden, whose taken over as the team’s leading scorer and go-to guy on the team, while Howard plays second fiddle.
Howard was at his best with Orlando because it was his team and he was the main star and that is exactly what he needs to revive his National Basketball Association career and return to his “Superman” status and this where the Atlanta Hawks enter in as the best option for Howard to land if he is moved at the trade deadline. In a season filled with on-court chemistry issues and rumors of locker room discontent, perhaps the biggest bit of drama appeared just today, in which both Harden and Howard apparently have had their issues since 2014.
First and foremost, Bucks fans need to be relieved that the team didn’t pull the trigger on a deal for Howard without future assurances.
As the NBA Deadline approaches, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat are in the middle of a discussion that includes Dwight Howard and Hassan Whiteside.
The Dallas Mavericks are always looking for more talent, as team owner Mark Cuban wants to ensure that Dirk Nowitzki gets to compete for an NBA Championship until he decides to walk away from the league. Of course, you could argue that if he opted-in for 2016-17 he might set himself up for an even bigger summer in 2017.
One new suitor could be the Heat, which could be facing more health concerns with Chris Bosh, who didn’t play in the All-Star Game and reportedly will miss time. But again, anyone that wants to land Howard in a mega deal will have to give up a lot to the Rockets, and Charlotte just might not have enough.
Howard and Harden have been an oil-and-water mix since they came together for the 2012-13 season.
Then, he goes into detail on how the Rockets might just want to dump Howard for “assets”, rather than value. The problem with that is that Howard is already 30 years old and has 11 punishing seasons under his belt. All of those teams are within five games of them, meaning that we could see a massive shakeup at any point when looking at the bottom of the Western Conference playoff picture.
Howard is not the player he once was.
If it was simply a matter of rolling the dice on someone, the Wizards would be silly not to seriously investigate a trade for Dwight Howard.
Rumor has it that the Miami Heat might offer a blockbuster deal for Howard.
The only reason to do so is if a team feels Howard is the one piece it needs to push it into contender status, and it’s hard to find a team that really, truly feels it can get there. But, Howard is still in good shape and one of the known top center players, especially on defense while Whiteside continuously scores impressively that can lead to winning.
