Heat wave coming to SoCal, SCV
The temperatures, accompanied by “humid low level conditions”, will most likely be higher along and south of a line from Del Rio to Bulverde to Georgetown.
A hot spell bearing down on the region is expected to send temperatures soaring in much of San Diego County Thursday and as high as 10 degrees above average throughout the weekend.
A break from the heat is ahead in central Oklahoma for the rest of the week, the National Weather Service reports.
“It’ll get progressively warmer each day, starting Wednesday and Thursday”, said Joe Dandrea, a forecaster at the National Weather Service.
Weather service officials said the heat poses the greatest threat to the young, elderly, people working and exercising outside and ill people sensitive to the heat.
Triple-digit temperatures are back in the forecast, so enjoy the 90s while they’re here.
Anyone spending time outdoors was urged to wear light-colored and light-weight clothing, stay out of midday sun and keep hydrated. Many victims don’t have air conditioning or, if they do, did not turn it on.
One important tip is not to leave anyone, whether child, adult, or a pet, in a parked vehicle where the interior temperature can soar within just minutes.
In addition to the heat, there was also a “slight chance” that mountain and desert areas could be hit with thunderstorms this weekend. Cooler temperatures will continue until Sunday.
