Helicopter Crash Update: 4 Dead, 6 Rescued, 2 Still Missing
An helicopter just crashed into a lagoon at the Oworosoki area of Lagos.
At least four bodies have been recovered from the scene of the helicopter crash that occurred at the Oworonsoki end of the Lagos Lagoon on Wednesday.
Details of the accident are still unclear but rescue efforts are already ongoing.
“We were watching the helicopter swaying in the air. As soon as it hit the water, we saw flames”, said Nkoli Moka, who watched the crash from a auto on the city’s Third Mainland bridge. It said preliminary information indicated the chopper was carrying two crew and eight passengers.
Bristow said it is now working to confirm the number of people on board, their identities and the extent of any injuries.
Bristow’s fleet of around 500 helicopters services the global energy industry and it has transportation operations in Nigeria and most other major offshore oil and gas producing regions of the world.
The casualty figure was provided by the Nigerian Television Authority(NTA) via Twitter.
