Hellboy’s Ron Perlman Joins Harry Potter Spinoff Fantastic Beasts
Actor Ron Perlman of “Hellboy” fame has been confirmed to join the set of the Harry Potter Spinoff movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will play a goblin in the film, but other details pertaining to his role are unknown at the time. Then again, goblins in the wizarding world are not exactly the friendliest bunch, so Perlman might still have his work cut out for him, channeling their brand of nasty.
Perlman starred in all but the last season of FX’s Sons of Anarchy and also starred in the recent Amazon series Hand of God. He’ll be played by Eddie Redmayne, being the Harry Potter world’s most renowned “magizoologist”. Farrell is reportedly playing a wizard named “Graves” who meets Scamander in New York. The film will be directed by Harry Potter veteran David Yates, and has the screenwriting debut of Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling.
News of Perlman’s addition comes mere days after THR broke word of Gemma Chan, Selma actress Carmen Ejogo and Jon Voight all being recruited for the fantastical feature, itself taking place a full 70 years before the birth of the Boy Who Lived.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is reported to be in an original film in its own and is not a prequel or sequel to the “Harry Potter” franchise of books and movies.
The first of a planned trilogy, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to hit theatres November 18, 2016.
