Henry, Alabama run past Auburn

With the win, Alabama clinches the SEC West and will go on to play the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship in Atlanta on December 5. Henry’s touchdown extended his streak of 17 straight games with a rushing touchdown.

But it was the shattering of one of the most unlikely narratives – Alabama’s seeming inability to find a competent fied-goal kicker – that helped the Tide build a lead and eventually win the game, 29-13.

“Our guys have had their backs against the wall ever since the Ole Miss game, and they responded every time”, Alabama coach Nick Saban told CBS after the game.

An Alabama fan brought up the pay-for-play controversy that surrounded Cam Newton when he was at Auburn.

Although the Trojans never imagined the path to the Pac-12 title game would include so many detours and setbacks, they’re still grateful for the journey.

Derrick Henry added a touchdown with 24 seconds left for the final score.

Alabama ends the first half with, yes, a field goal – its fourth, the sixth overall, of the half.

Saturday afternoon the Auburn Tigers completed their 11-1 season with a win in the Iron Bowl over the Auburn Tigers on the road. “I am talking about the fact that we are disappointed”.

Auburn’s touchdown in the third quarter was equal parts athleticism and luck when Jason Smith tipped a ball to himself and split two Alabama defensive backs for a 77-yard score. Profiteers walking the crowd play both sides, hawking “BEAT AUBURN” and “BEAT BAMA” buttons, but they’re selling many more of the latter than the former.

Cam Newton was back at Auburn serving as an honorary coach for Saturday’s Iron Bowl.

“We’ve been inconsistent all year that’s the main thing”, Auburn wide receiver Ricardo Louis said.

Henry broke Trent Richardson’s single-season rushing mark.

Saban will need quarterback Jake Coker to continue to play well, as he is the leader for the Crimson Tide offense. “We got to the fourth quarter and we couldn’t get it done”. If the Tigers want to keep this game close then they’ll have to slow down Heisman candidate Derrick Henry, arguably the top runner in all of college football who will be going against one of the worst defenses against the run.

Johnson was 10-of-23 passing for 169 yards. On the ensuing possession, Auburn again gouges deep into Alabama territory, and again comes away with only a field goal. His field goals went for 26, 40, 26, 50 and 47 yards.
