Henry Cavill teases Superman’s return from the dead on Instagram
It’s unclear if Superman will simply wear this suit as he recovers from his injuries, or if he’ll actually wear it in battle when Justice League comes out.
Superman died in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but the brief, final shot teased his return as soil mysteriously lifted ever-so-slightly from the top of his coffin.
Following the death (and revival) of Superman in the comic book series, the iconic hero sported a black costume with white emblem and trim… and it looks as though this could be the inspiration for Henry Cavill’s new suit. But, it looks like Superman will be getting a major costume change when he rises from the grave.
So what will Superman be like when he returns for Justice League?
It’s too soon to tell if Cavill’s Superman will also come back to life weaker than he once was, or if WB/DC and director Zack Snyder will go in a different direction.
In the DC movies, there’s speculation that Superman could be bad (at least for part of Justice League or a future movie). A BvS dream sequence shows a reality in which Superman is acting as a tyrant – upset over the death of Lois Lane (Amy Adams). In “B v S”, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) gets a visit from the Flash (Ezra Miller) in a dream where the Scarlet Speedster warns Batman that he was right to think the way he did about a certain someone. Given the trajectory of the DC Extended Universe – Batman v Superman already saw Kal-el sacrifice himself to stop Doomsday – you can bet on the former scenario. But we’re guessing Superman will be a good guy when he’s back in black next year. We’ll find out eventually – probably on November 17, 2017 when JUSTICE LEAGUE sees the light of day in full.
