Henry Has Criticized Arsene Wenger
Is Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to blame for Alexis Sanchez’s injury setback?
The flying Chilean had just put in a scintillating 90-minute performance against the Croatians – scoring twice and assisting Mesut Ozil’s opener.
Arsene Wenger admitted after the game he was fearing the worst and it seems those concerns were well placed as the Mirror claim Sanchez has been ruled out for at least three weeks. We will have to asses them.
Thierry Henry suggests Arsenal should have rested Alexis Sanchez at Norwich on Sunday.
Verheijen proceeded to post seven different links to numerous articles outlining serious injury problems which Arsenal have had in the past.
Margo, who became the first female physio at an English league club during a stint at Barnet, reckons the issues at Arsenal are also systematic of a league where rest and recuperation are nearly impossible.
Sanchez pulled up with a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw, despite being a known injury risk prior to the match.
Admittedly, playing Joel Campbell or sending out Mathieu Debuchy as a winger isn’t the most ideal situation.
The Gunners face an anxious wait to see how long Sanchez must wait on the sidelines for with a busy Christmas schedule on the horizon.
Arsenal started the game brightly pinning the hosts back in the early parts of the match.
“I have said it before, there is great depth in the team”, he told Arsenal Player.
The Frenchman also cited a lack of options in attacking areas as a reason for why Sanchez was selected and, after praising him for being aware of how far he can push himself in the build up to the game, was happy to trust his players’ own opinion.
Now he likely won’t be playing any minutes for a while – in a situation that appeared to be completely preventable.
Sanchez is not the only injury headache for Wenger, with defender Laurent Koscielny replaced after suffering a hip injury, while midfielder Santi Cazorla was forced to play on despite a knee injury as the Gunners had used all three of their substitutions.
Now Verheijen, who often comments on players injuries and fitness, believes that Wenger knows he should not have played him.
“Now we can all say the same thing. I would say it was a fair point for Norwich but, on the injury front, it was a bad game for us”.
“In the second half we started a bit slow and invited Arsenal onto us, but as the half wore on I thought we were the better team”.
