Here’s a teaser trailer for Angry Birds: The Movie
The future of the Angry Birds franchise could rest in the hands of the theatrical release as Finnish game maker Rovio Entertainment endured layoffs to 30 percent of its workforce in August.
Game favorites like Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), Chuck (Josh Gad), and Bomb (Danny McBride) attend anger management classes (which clearly don’t work) and watch the arrival of Leonard (Bill Hader) and the Bad Piggies. Making their directorial debuts with the film are Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis, who worked as animators in a long list of recent, successful animated features, including Wreck-It Ralph and Hotel Transylvania. This teaser trailer gives us our first real look at the The Angry Birds Movie. Been awhile, right? After all, you’re probably too busy clicking on little pieces of candy to try to make other pieces of candy explode. Producer John Cohen revealed that this adaptation will provide a long-awaited origin story, revealing how this rivalry between the birds and the pigs really started. The player simply uses his arsenal of birds to pummel the defenses of evil pigs, weakening their structures just enough to let physics finish the job.
The Angry Birds Movie is coming next year. Nobody on the island of birds even knows what a pig is, so we could potentially see the “Day Zero” of the Angry Birds “conflict”.
Angry Birds, the massively successful 2009 mobile game, is getting its own movie, appropriately titled The Angry Birds Movie.
Who knows, this could be a surprise hit when it comes out next summer. Veep and Arrested Development’s Tony Hale is also part of the cast, in addition to Keegan-Michael Key and Peter Dinklage. The movie flies the coup and enters theaters on May 20, 2016.
