Here’s How Women’s Web Sites Will Cover the Women’s Strike

Following the massive turnout of the Women’s March, its organizers called for women to go on strike on International Women’s Day on Wednesday.
International Women’s Day, Wednesday March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This could leave out women in low-paying jobs and hourly work, who might not have the same freedom to strike as women with more financial stability. “This year we have understood that probably could be used as a kind of icon for our program, the Benetton Women empowerment program”. These days, we see that the women are equally playing importance in the corporate sector, industrial sector and even in politics.
Italy is giving all women free entry to the country’s museums on Wednesday to mark International Women’s Day. “In New York, we’ve really been inspired by the calls of our comrades in Argentina and Latin America’s Ni Una Menos (Not One Less) campaign against gendered violence”, said Magally Miranda, a teacher from Brooklyn and one of the strike’s local organizers in New York.
“What’s the goal of a strike when you can’t afford a day to not work?”
International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) is organising a conference on International Women’s Day with friends from across the country to celebrate the contribution and struggle of women human rights defenders (HRDs) in Pakistan on March 8.
What is a woman can’t take off work?
Organizers say they selected the color red to represent “revolutionary love and sacrifice”. It is a day for all women around the world to feel proud of who they are and what they can achieve to promote gender parity.
Organizers are hoping the day will build on the momentum of the Women’s March that took place on January 21-but with a stronger focus on women of color and the heightened militancy that comes with withholding labor and spending. The national organizers acknowledge this might be hard for women with children and women with “economic insecurity”.
Earlier this month, Polish MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke said, “Of course women must earn less than men because they are weaker, they are smaller, they are less intelligent, they must earn less, that’s all”.
