Here’s our best look at the Google Pixel 3 XL yet
Rumor has it Google lost track of an entire shipment of finished Pixel 3 phones. Maybe we can hope the smaller Pixel 3 starts getting leaked in the mean time.
It seems like a big Pixel 3 leak is occuring every day out of Russian Federation, but the latest comes via 9To5Google and goes into great detail about the camera capabilities, including features we’ve not seen tipped before.
The Pixel 3 XL is unlikely to win any awards in the design department, with that XL notch likely going to turn off many prospective buyers. It also redefines the ideology of Google, which never gave into trends before.
Not that Google has a lot to improve upon: the Pixel 2 remains our favorite camera phone, and it recently bested the newer Note 9 in a camera face-off.
You have an infrared sensor for face scanning, an earpiece that will double as one of two stereo speakers and the selfie camera. That data also points to an 8MP front camera with f/1.8 aperture.
What the photos reveal, from front and back angles, is that new notch. The whole phone, retail box and all, has leaked spectacularly.
The back camera is also f1.8 but has a 4032×3024 (12.2MP) resolution.
Google’s integration of software to its camera is something to look forward to. A fingerprint sensor is also there.
On Instagram, an account under the usernam KHoroshev has been taking numerous snaps on the Pixel 3 XL showing the image quality.
This sequence of events was not explicitly confirmed by Rozetked, but when translating the blog’s post from Russian into English, one section states: “Google made a big mistake, and two months before the release of the smartphone has lost track of a batch of finished gadgets”.
The prototype apparently runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with 64GB of internal memory and 4GB RAM, although this is said to be the basic model.
The device shown appears to line up with rumours surrounding the larger Pixel 3 XL.
Additionally, both Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL are expected to come with the latest Android 9 Pie. They look just like wired USB-C Pixel Buds, but we weren’t sure if they would have any controls until now.
According to the images, published on Rozetked.me and shared on Twitter by renowned leaker @VenyaGeskin1, we should expect a healthy number of accessories in the box alongside the phone. More images show that the Pixel 3 XL will continue to support the Active Edge feature.
