Here’s the first official footage from the Wonder Woman solo movie
Kevin Smith, who co-hosted the Dawn of the Justice League special with DC Comics COO Geoff Johns, spoke about the awesome Wonder Woman stuff in both the Batman vs Superman and
Gal Gadot says we’ll see Diana Prince “coming of age” in the movie, learning about “the entire history, what’s her mission”, etc.
She is determined to protect the human world, even though her people have declared that man is not “worth it”. Does its similarity to Superman make it fit into the DC universe, or should they have made the image more unique to the character? She has not only speed but strength as well, skills she honed since she was young as she’s been training for war her whole life.
This marks the first substantial footage shown from the highly anticipated action adventure from director Patty Jenkins (“Monster”, AMC’s “The Killing”), which will be starring Gal Gadot (the “Fast & Furious” movies) in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.
In addition to the new Facebook page, official Wonder Woman Twitter and Instagram profiles have cropped up.
They commented that Superman’s and Batman’s origins are the most talked about origins in the DC Comics but the origins of Wonder Woman are really very interesting. That said, the film’s throwback to WWI offers promising territory for Jenkins to explore, so here’s hoping the film develops its own mark and voice as distinctive as what we’re seeing from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.
“Telling a story like this now is pivotal and important”, actor and “Wonder Woman” star Chris Pine said in the sneak peek.
“She’s an Amazon warrior”, Johns adds in the video. “I think that’s why people love the character”.
Wonder Woman has always been a household name and a cultural icon much in the same vein as Batman or Superman.
Then there’s the Justice League image – do these people not smile for a group portrait? – which offers a first glimpse of The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) alongside Bats (Ben Affleck), Supes (Henry Cavill) Wonder Woman (Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa).
