Here’s the origin of Usain Bolt’s signature victory pose
“Right now I’m glad to have made the final, and I’m looking forward to a good 200m”. The race just flashes by – 10 seconds start to finish. It’s definitely the most popular event of the Olympics, and every photographer that’s here wants to be at that event. “Here’s the deal, the gun goes off, and i can’t see the race, the equipment and the scorekeepers are blocking my view, until nearly 20 feet from the finish line”.
“It’s hilarious watching Usain Bolt smiling running while everyone else’s face is pure struggle”, @okemak tweeted. Not to be outdone by their Brazilian counterparts, the American fans chanted “U-S-A” in honor of Justin Gatlin.
The first step of the triple-triple is complete.
While sprinter Andre De Grasse’s bronze medal in the 100-metre dash Sunday was widely celebrated in Canada and on CBC’s Olympic broadcast, where analyst Donovan Bailey (the last Canadian man to win a sprint medal at the Olympics, way back in 1996) was thrilled by the result, it received an embarrassing slight from NBC’s broadcast.
In the semi finals Bolt eased up to a time of 9.86 second, the fastest time of the night.
Bolt is looking to be the first Olympian to win both the 100m and 200m in three straight Olympics.
I can see how people would be thrown off by a name like Usain Bolt.
The race followed the pattern of so many before as he eventually unraveled his long legs to gain maximum pace and though he did not hit the front until later than he might have liked, when he did he shot past Gatlin like a track cyclist coming out of a slipstream in the velodrome. He will also contest the 4x100m relay, which Jamaica has won the past two Games.
