Hernandez: What Van Gaal Told Me
Javier Hernandez claims he wanted to stay at Manchester United but Louis van Gaal told him he had virtually no chance of playing.
There is likely to be a full-on mutiny at Old Trafford on Saturday if Van Gaal’s side can not beat another newly-promoted side, Norwich, who have won just one of their last 11 games.
Louis van Gaal’s poor communication skills means the Manchester United manager is struggling to keep Red Devils supporters onside, according to Pat Nevin.
He insisted that he feels confident and important at the BayArena, which has contributed to his terrific form for his new team this season.
The success of Manchester United’s former stars as highlighted the current team’s shortcomings, with many questioning why talented footballers like Hernandez, Di Maria and Kagawa were allowed to leave the club. Yet despite being named in the squad for each of the following three fixtures Young remained an unused replacement in the goalless draw with West Ham United, the 3-2 defeat at Wolfsburg in the Champions League and the defeat by Bournemouth.
Reflecting on his time at United, Hernandez said, “I was extremely lucky to be the first (Mexican) player to move to one of the biggest clubs in the world”.
“The board told me that I could go on loan to Real Madrid and it was not a hard decision for me”.
At the same time, there is a realisation that the right buy could greatly boost the club’s chances of winning the title this season, given the open nature of the title race. All my time there was good, with an incredible start, with many opportunities but ended badly because the opportunities decreased.
“I’m so grateful to Ferguson”, he said.
That came after the Dutchman revealed earlier this season that Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick had taken their manager to one side to report that the players “were flat”.
That comes after another allegedly questioned Van Gaal’s approach after the 0-0 with West Ham a fortnight ago.
That by no means represents an terrible first half of the campaign, but it is the way United have played that is really upsetting the fans – and plenty of neutrals, too.
