“High By The Beach” by Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey’s new song, “High By The Beach”, has appeared online a few hours before it’s set to premiere on Apple Music and BBC Radio 1. It’s called “High By The Beach“, and it sounds more like a breakup than a honeymoon.
Although the lyrics get a bit repetitive, the meaning is clear just below the surface.
As fans wait for the complete track list for Ultraviolence’s follow up, the latest leak along with the LP’s title track “Honeymoon” might be enough to keep Del Rey’s adoring public entranced and if not, there are plenty of remixes of her previous singles to satiate the appetites of even the most devout listeners.
Plus, who wouldn’t wanna get high by the beach with Lana?? “But with the beat, it has this trap influence”. When asked if she felt nervous about putting new music out, Rey explained, “I actually feel a little better about it, because I know what to expect”. “You can be a bad motherf***er / But that don’t make you a man”, she half-croons atop an organ in one of the song’s several anthemic lines.
The singer announced she was releasing “High by the Beach” Tuesday, August 4, via her Instagram account. “But I’m not scared, there’s nothing to lose now that I’ve found you”. “It’s very different from the last one and similar to the first two, Born to Die and Paradise”, she said. I didn’t think it would turn into an entirely new record, but by January I’d written three-quarters of a record, and it felt really good.
Del Rey: Not exactly… for instance, what Elon Musk is doing with SpaceX, things like that. And she’s none too shy about sharing her feelings while telling him goodbye.
