High pressure system means no Sacramento rain on New Year’s Eve
Tonight: Skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with temperatures falling in to the teens.
Saturday: Plenty of sunshine and dry with highs in the middle to upper 30s.
Great news: rain chances are low (10%), which also means there’s no threat for severe weather. “Chattanooga and Cleveland could get about 1/3”, and I expect only a light trace in spots north. Highs will be cooler today with a high of 58.
TOMORROW (NEW YEAR’S DAY): Thicker cloud cover makes an appearance just in time for 2016! Winds out of the northwest between 5 to 10 miles per hour. This will keep our overnight lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s with some warmer air to our southeast.
Wednesday’s low in Madison was 25 at 7:45 a.m., 13 degrees above the normal low and 41 degrees above the record low of 16 below for December 30, set in 1887.
Sunshine will be most abundant on Saturday and more high clouds are expected on Sunday. Friday night: Clear, with a low around 11.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies and cold temperatures will continue with an overnight low temperature of 27 degrees.
Monday: A slight chance of showers.
