High school quarterback injured during football game dies
A high school football player in New Jersey died Friday night after he was hit during a game. Warren Hills coach Larry Dubiel said officials are trying to determine what happened. They said grief counselors would be available for students at the Warren County school on Saturday.
Murray was a three-year starting quarterback for Warren Hills.
Touching tributes began pouring in for the beloved player who was hailed a “true hometown hero” and remembered by classmates and his fellow Blue Streak family as a leader with a bright future.
There’s been an outpouring of support for Murray’s family and friends on social media.
This is, tragically, the third such incident this month, after high schoolers also passed away after suffering on-field injuries in Oklahoma and Louisiana. In addition to football, he played varsity baseball and varsity basketball.
Here is Evan Murray at the helm before one of his football games. “Waking up this morning only means last night wasn’t just a nightmare”.
“You could tell how composed and poised he was and the leadership he showed throughout the game”.
