High Wind Warning Issued for San Diego’s Beaches
The National Weather Service advises drivers to be prepared for snow covered roads and to use caution while driving. “Strong northwest winds Sunday night through Monday will result in areas of blowing snow and reduce visibility”. The low will be 44 degrees, with a 40 percent chance of rain after midnight and before noon Monday, he said.
The cooler weather is expected to taper off Tuesday, with warmer, dry conditions through the end of the week, according to forecasters.
The storm will still begin as rain Sunday night but the showers will continue until about 5 a.m. Monday when the change to snow will occur.
At 7:15 p.m. National Weather Service radar showed heavy showers north of San Bernardino and Riverside, but only a few light showers over San Diego County. Low near 44. Showers likely before 8 p.m. with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. The valleys could see 1 to 3 inches, and the mountains up to 7 inches.
Sunday’s high will be 67 degrees with cloudy skies.
The weather service has issued additional winter weather advisories calling for snow in Northern Idaho, northern Nevada and most of Utah from the same storm that will impact Eastern Idaho on Monday.
